I’m Anne. I’ve lived in Arizona for most of my life and I love the desert. I grew up in a big family and had plenty of practice caring for little ones with my younger siblings, who I still adore. (I like my big brothers too. 😉) As a kid there were 3 main things I hoped for in my future; to be a mother, a teacher, and a writer. Those dreams have all come true for me.
My husband and I got married in 2001. After a couple years we started adding to our family. We never would have dreamed that we’d have 10 kids! Parenting has been the most challenging, the most rewarding, and the most fun thing in our lives. On the rare occasion that we get a conversation without them, they are what we want to talk about. We talk about our concerns for them, and laugh about the funny things they do, especially when those things show their unique personalities. We love our kids!
When our oldest was ready for kindergarten we looked at all our options and decided that homeschool was the best for him. It wasn’t long before I fell in love with it, and have been teaching our elementary age kids ever since. I love the flexibility of scheduling and curriculum that homeschool allows, and I love that I get to spend that time with my kids. I also love that I get to use my degree in elementary education to teach.
When I was a kid dreaming of writing, there was no such thing as a blog! 😆 I have taken a writing course and dabbled in poetry and writing contests over the years. But writing a blog gives me an opportunity to keep doing the other things I love and write about them. What could be better than that?
I’ve learned through mothering that I have a passion for breastfeeding. I nursed all of our 10 babies, and a couple were very challenging. I’ve earned a certificate as a breastfeeding specialist so I can help other moms reach their breastfeeding goals.
A few other things about me – I enjoy singing and sewing and scrapbooking. I love nutrition and a healthy balance. I love having fun with my family and taking pictures. I try to keep a tidy house and an organized lifestyle, but I strive to keep my family first, so neatness isn’t guaranteed. 😆 I am a Christian, and that is a big part of who I am.
