Parenting: A Different Kind of Adventure

Before we were parents, my husband and I had lots of fun adventures in the mountains and at the lake. Backpacking and waterskiing were among our favorite activities. That all changed when babies started joining our family. But that doesn’t mean our adventures ended: a new kind of adventure had just begun! 20 years later we have a bustling 10 kid adventure going on. We are loving parenting and I’m ready to share the funny stories, hard learned wisdom, and fun ideas we’ve gained along the way.

Each of our children have added so much meaning and purpose to our lives, and as we’ve worked together to take care of them, we’ve been able to grow closer to each other.

Parenting covers many stages, from our kids’ amazing firsts to the proud heartache of them leaving home, and beyond. There are many challenges to overcome. There is also a lot of joy to be found in this adventure of parenthood. I want to help you find it.

Parenting means a lot of teaching. There is so much for us to teach our kids, from potty training to working to being kind. As we’ve practiced this with our kids, we’ve found that some ways work better than others.

As I’ve homeschooled for over 15 years, I’ve enjoyed teaching our kids to read and to love learning. This is a topic you’ll see often in my blog posts.

We’ve learned so much about parenting! As we’ve had a baby in our home constantly for 20 years, we’ve learned a lot about caring for infants! We’ve had a constant stream of preschoolers for almost as long. While we aren’t experts on teenagers yet, we’ve already learned a lot about them, too.

This is a blog for parents. While I’m pretty sure that not all my readers will be interested in some of my topics, like breastfeeding and homeschooling, I’ll bet you can find something to relate to. After all, every parent has to deal with potty training, sickness, and taking care of yourself

This blog is as much for you as it is for me. If there are topics you want to read about or questions I might answer, please let me know through my contact page
